Per4m now has enough different protein powders that choosing the brand is almost the easy part. The harder question is which Per4m protein actually suits what you want from a shake.
Advanced Whey, Isolate Zero, Plant Protein, Advanced Protein Blend and Egg White Protein all increase your protein intake, but they're built from different protein sources and suit slightly different priorities.
We've compared the five ranges we stock below. Some flavours or ranges may be temporarily out of stock, but we've included them because the aim is to explain the difference between the formulas, not just what's available on one particular day.
Per4m protein types at a glance
| Range | Protein source | Protein per serving | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Advanced Whey | Whey-based | About 21–22g | Classic creamy whey and the widest flavour choice |
| Isolate Zero | 100% whey protein isolate | 26g | Higher protein per scoop and zero-sugar isolate formula |
| Plant Advanced Protein | Plant-based | About 22g | Vegan or dairy-free protein |
| Advanced Protein Blend | Five protein sources | 20–21g | Everyday protein, creamy texture and value |
| Egg White Protein | Free-range egg white | 21g | Dairy-free complete protein without going plant-based |
Per4m Advanced Whey: the classic all-rounder
Per4m Advanced Whey is the familiar starting point. It's a dairy-based whey protein with around 21–22g of protein per serving depending on flavour and the huge dessert-led flavour range Per4m is known for.
If you want a traditional creamy protein shake, lots of flavour choice and don't specifically need an isolate or dairy-free option, this is the straightforward choice.
It's also the easiest Per4m range to try before committing because we stock single-serve Advanced Whey samples across a large number of flavours.
Per4m Isolate Zero: when you specifically want whey isolate
Per4m Isolate Zero uses 100% whey protein isolate and provides 26g protein per serving. Per4m positions the range around a zero-sugar formula and a higher protein hit per scoop.
Whey isolate is more highly filtered than a typical whey concentrate. That generally means a greater proportion of the powder is protein and less of some of the other components found in milk-based whey products.
It's the more specialised choice if those macros are what you're prioritising. Stock comes and goes, so don't read temporary availability as the range having disappeared.
Per4m Plant Advanced Protein: the vegan option
Per4m Plant Advanced Protein is the obvious branch of the range if you want to avoid animal-derived protein entirely.
It provides around 22g of plant protein per serving and gives you a dairy-free, vegan alternative while keeping the sweeter flavour style associated with Per4m.
Plant protein naturally has a different taste and texture from whey, so we'd choose it because the dietary format suits you rather than expecting it to be identical to Advanced Whey.
Per4m Advanced Protein Blend: five protein sources in one scoop
Per4m Advanced Protein Blend is the newest everyday protein format in the line-up. It combines whey protein concentrate, milk protein concentrate, micellar casein, egg white protein and whey protein isolate.
Depending on flavour, a serving provides around 20–21g protein. Per4m launched the blend around everyday use, creamy texture and better value rather than trying to make it a replacement for Isolate Zero.
We've already gone deeper on the two dairy-based everyday options in our Advanced Whey vs Advanced Protein Blend comparison.
Per4m Egg White Protein: dairy-free without going vegan
Per4m Egg White Protein provides 21g of complete protein per serving from free-range egg whites.
It's naturally lactose-free and dairy-free, which gives it a very specific place between whey and plant protein. If dairy doesn't suit you but you don't need a vegan formula, egg white protein gives you another complete animal-protein option.
It still comes in recognisably Per4m-style flavours, including options such as White Chocolate Hazelnut and Caramel Biscuit when available.
So which Per4m protein should you choose?
If you want the simplest answer, choose based on the thing you care about most rather than assuming one is universally “best”.
- Advanced Whey: for a classic whey shake and maximum flavour choice.
- Isolate Zero: for 100% whey isolate, 26g protein per serving and a zero-sugar formula.
- Plant Advanced Protein: for a vegan and dairy-free option.
- Advanced Protein Blend: for a five-source everyday blend with 20–21g protein and a focus on value.
- Egg White Protein: for dairy-free complete protein when vegan isn't a requirement.
For most people, the deciding factors will be dietary needs, preferred texture, protein per serving, flavour and budget. There isn't much benefit in paying for a more specialised format if the standard option already fits what you need.
What about Per4m Clear Whey Hydrate?
Per4m also makes Whey Hydrate Clear Whey Isolate, which is deliberately a different drinking experience: lighter and juice-style rather than a creamy shake. We've kept the main comparison above focused on the five traditional protein-powder ranges you asked us about, but Clear Whey is worth considering if texture is the reason you don't enjoy normal shakes.
Try before you commit where you can
Protein labels can tell you the source and macros, but they can't tell you which texture or flavour you'll personally enjoy. Where sample sachets are available, they're still the lowest-risk way to decide.
You can browse our Per4m range for current availability, or start with the whey samples if flavour is your main uncertainty.
